If you're looking for a cute meeting place in Ueno Station, a rest stop after a museum tour, or just an early-morning cup of joe, Pensta Cafe is there for you. More than just a cafe, this is a shrine to Suica's Penguin, the popular mascot on JR East's transportation card. Images of the train-loving bird decorate both the walls and the foam on top of your cafe latte, while penguin-themed coffee mugs are available to take home.

The menu features coffees, teas and desserts as well as three kinds of curry rice if you're hungry. The 30-spice pork curry is filling and satisfyingly spicy. Adjacent to the cafe area is a well-stocked character goods shop selling Suica's Penguin-themed lunchboxes, pens, notepads, backpacks, folding umbrellas and much more.

The cafe is located in the Ecute shopping complex, inside the gates on the third floor of JR Ueno Station. The character goods shop is open from 9am, while the cafe is open from 6:30am.
