Yamamotoya is one of the best-known purveyors of miso-nikomi udon, flat udon noodles prepared in a miso-rich, bonito-based soup. The noodles are thick and chewy, and the soup is filled with fish cakes, leeks, egg, and many optional ingredients such as Nagoya cochin chicken. Everything is served with a bottomless plate of vegetables - pickled hakusai, thinly sliced raw onions (which nicely complement the rich broth), and cucumbers.
This is one of the more centrally located branches of this shop, connecting to the underground arcade at Sakae subway station.
