Thai festival in
Tennoji Park, Osaka.

Osaka's sixth annual
Thai Festival will
be held the weekend
of September 6-7,
from 11am-8pm each
day, in Tennoji
Park. There will be
around 35 booths
serving Thai food
(mostly run by local
Thai restaurants),
plus another 15
booths selling Thai
products. Entertain-
ment includes con-
certs by several
popular Thai record-
ing artists on the
Grammy label, plus
classical dance
performances and
demonstrations of
Thai boxing. Check

Festival in Osanba-
shi Hall, Yokohama.

It's less crowded
than the Tokyo ver-
sion of the festi-
val, with unlimited
samples of beers
from around Japan
and the world for
your Y4100 admission

Seventy Pacific
Northwest wines at
Roti tasting.

Orca International
wine importers will
be holding a major
wine tasting party
at Roti restaurant
in Roppongi, pouring
some 70 wines from
more than 15 winer-
ies in Washington
and Oregon. Winemak-
ers Alex Sokol Blos-
ser (Sokol Blosser
winery) and Steve
Thomson (King Es-
tate) will be on
hand to answer ques-
tions. The evening
will also include a
buffet dinner and
live acoustic guitar
music from Isao
Ohashi. Tickets are

Sri Lankan festival
in Yoyogi Park.

It's a full weekend
of Sri Lankan music,
dance, handicrafts
shopping, and of
course food - with
dozens of booths
serving authentic
Sri Lankan curries
and other national
dishes. The party
runs from 10am-6pm
Saturday and Sunday,
and admission is
free. Come to the
event stage area of
Yoyogi Park (near
NHK).

Vietnam Festival
2008 in Yoyogi Park.

This year's Vietnam
Festival promises a
full-lineup of en-
tertainment, with
some two dozen popu-
lar recording art-
ists performing on
the main event
stage. Also on the
bill are a fashion
show, cooking and
vegetable-carving
demonstrations, folk
music, puppet thea-
tre, traditional
dance, opera, and
garden golf. Plus
booths selling hand-
icrafts and imported
goods, and Vietna-
mese food and drink
supplied by local
Vietnamese restau-
rants. It's all
happening at the
Event Stage area of
Yoyogi Park. Hours
are 5-8pm Friday and
10am-8pm Saturday
and Sunday.
