Ogawamachi: Udon

€Data
While the relatively
unspicy curry udon
noodles are the main
seller here, the
kitchen also turns
out several other
hot and cold varie-
ties such as spicy
natto, Chinese-style
tantanmen, and ume-
kitsune (fried to-
fu). The Italian-
influenced cold
tomato and cheese
udon (Y1000) is a
refreshing, rather
unique bowl, with
lots of fresh vege-
tables like turnips,
mushrooms and pump-
kin complementing
the pleasantly chewy
noodles.

The atmosphere is
relaxed, and the
tasteful decor - tan
stucco walls, dis-
tressed concrete
floor, heavy dark
wooden tables -
makes this seem more
like a chic neigh-
borhood cafe than a
noodle joint.
