Marunouchi: Udon

€Data
This Tokyo-based
chain serves a rela-
tively spicy curry-
flavored bowl of
udon noodles with a
small but appealing
selection of top-
pings. Plump
tempura-fried prawn
is probably the most
popular of these;
other options in-
clude banana tempu-
ra, fried tofu,
cheese, and mochi
(rice cakes) top-
pings, tsukemen
dipping noodles, or
an Indian-influenced
keema curry udon
with minced chicken
and pork.

The udon noodles
themselves are quite
flavorful, and thin
slivers of crisp
green beans in the
bowl provide pleas-
antly contrasting
texture. If you're
not in a curry mood,
you can choose from
more traditional-
style regular udon,
and if you're not in
an udon mood you can
get curry rice. The
dining area is sim-
ple but modern in
feel, with counters
looking out over the
building's six-story
atrium.
