Home-style African
dishes from across
the continent and a
great soundtrack of
African music are
the draws at this
festive little bar-
restaurant. The menu
covers the range
from simple kebabs,
pilafs and stews to
more exotic items
like ostrich steak,
fried crocodile and
kangaroo.

Some of our favor-
ites were the excel-
lent lentil salad,
fried cauliflower,
and Tunisian-style
brik, a deep-fried
flaky pastry filled
with egg, onions and
tuna. And our Ethi-
opian doro wat
(chicken stew)
packed a spicy
punch.

Drinks include cock-
tails and inexpen-
sive wines as well
as African and Japa-
nese beers. Budget
around Y4000 for
food and drink at
dinnertime. If you
drop by early in the
evening, there's a
special happy-hour
menu of Y500 food
and drinks served
until 7:30pm.
