Yoyogi: Beer bar
3373-6888
Data
Conveniently located
just a block away
from JR Yoyogi sta-
tion, this is a nice
place to stop off
for a beer or two on
the way home or to
another part of
town. The extensive
beer menu is orga-
nized by brewing
style, with some
unusual German and
Belgian brands as
well as the more
common brews like
Bass Pale Ale and
Grolsch - 40 types
in all, four on tap.

The food is mainly
German-inspired,
with lots of sausag-
es and good sauer-
kraut to go with the
beers. The pork
stewed in beer
(Y1500) is quite
tasty, as is the
rosti - crusty pan-
fried shredded pota-
toes with a tangy
blue cheese kicker
(Y550).

The wood-paneled
room and the wide
wooden bar evoke a
vaguely European
feel, and the crowd
is lively but well-
behaved, a mix of
local Yoyogians and
serious beer con-
noisseurs from
around town. Call
ahead or come early
if you're with a
group. Lunch is
served on weekdays.
