Souvenirs and vari-
ous food items from
Miyazaki Prefecture
in Kyushu are on
sale here, including
several types of
charcoal-grilled
chicken, a specialty
of the area. Freshly
prepared chicken is
served in the small
cafeteria corner,
where you can enjoy
it along with your
choice of Miyazaki
microbrew beers.

The chicken served
here has an intense
charcoal flavor and
is less chewy than
typical for this
dish. It comes with
a heap of shredded
cabbage and a dollop
of yuzu-kosho (a
spicy citrus-fla-
vored condiment) for
Y550, or as part of
a set meal with
pickles, soup and
rice for Y700. Other
menu options include
curry rice and obit-
en, a type of fish
cake that incorpo-
rates tofu, miso
paste and brown
sugar.

Buy your food and
drink tickets from
the ticket machine
and hand them to the
lady at the counter;
there's an English-
language menu that
explains the various
dishes. Seating is
at a communal table
or at a counter
facing the shop's
front window.
