This is the
first pub in the
Hobgoblin chain
to be opened
outside England.
Lucky for us,
because this is
one of the
nicest English-
style pubs in
Tokyo. And, it's
the only place
in the world
where you can
drink the export
version of
Hobgoblin Ale.
The brewery in
England normally
makes two
versions; lower
strength for
draft sales, and
higher strength
for bottling.
For their first
export version,
the brewery put
the bottle-
version beer in
kegs for
shipment to
Japan. Here, it
is served using
a CO2/nitrogen
gas blend (like
Guinness) to
give it a very
smooth body and
thick, creamy
head. The pub's
good draft beer
selection also
includes
Sapporo's hard-
to-find Edel
Pils. Good food
menu with
reasonable
prices. Try the
rotisserie
chicken, which
greets you as
you come in the
door. Open from
lunchtime on
weekdays and
Sundays, and
until late every
