DOM KOLSCH
This pale yellow
beer with a
white head is
actually an ale.
Known as kolsch,
this style has
been brewed in
Koln, Germany
for centuries.
After brewing,
it is stored at
cold
temperatures
(lagered) for a
crisper, cleaner
flavor more like
a lager. Yet it
still has
faintly fruity
flavors and a
very soft
texture. It is
very drinkable,
and a good
regular beer for
all but the
coldest months.
While many
Japanese craft
brewers make a
"kolsch" the
only similarity
is perhaps the
color. Hard to
find in Tokyo,
but usually
worth the
search.
