Known for its distinctive, expressive fragrance, the Sauvignon Blanc grape hails from France's Loire Valley. In cooler climates, the grapes produce wines that exhibit green aromas and flavors of grass, herbs and vegetables. In warmer regions, citrus and tropical fruit flavors develop.
Playfully fruity with clear, bright acidity, Austrian Sauvignon Blanc strikes a nice balance between the austerity of white Bordeaux and the aggressively fruity pep of New World varieties.
Sauvignon Blanc is planted in various places around the country, but the grapes grow best in the sunny southern region of Styria, along the Slovenian border.
